DUT Scientific Consultation Workshop: Call 2024

21 February 2024, 14:00-17:00 (CET)

Karlsruhe, Germany

The Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) Partnership is a European long-term research and innovation programme that aims at building capacities and supporting local authorities and municipalities, service and infrastructure providers, and citizens to translate global strategies into local action. We develop the skills and tools to make urban change happen and boost the urgently needed urban transformations towards a sustainable future with enhanced quality of life in cities. The DUT Partnership pursues this aim along three thematic priorities, called Transition Pathways (TP): Positive Energy Districts (PED), Circular Urban Economies (CUE), and the 15-minute City (15mC).

Objectives

Co-creation with various stakeholders is key to create a strong community around urban transitions and to establish a well-known research and innovation platform that will help cities become more sustainable, inclusive, climate-neutral, and liveable. The open stakeholder consultation is an important step of the scoping process with the goal to define the topics for the third DUT call to be launched in September 2024. In this workshop, we will provide the opportunity for the urban research community to reflect and challenge the strategic development of the DUT Transition Pathways (CUE, 15mC, PED) and the draft priorities for the DUT Call 2024.

Agenda

The workshop comprises of three parts. In the first session, the current status of consultation and preliminary call programme will be presented by DUT representatives. Furthermore, experiences and requirements from project PIs as well as from city representatives will be provided. This will be followed by a parallel track part, in which the three TPs will be discussed in detail, as regards their challenges, priorities, and the themes to be addressed through research and innovation.  Participants will be enabled to switch the track, in case of their interest in several TPs. The workshop concludes with a plenum session, in which the participants seek for common perspectives to effectively drive urban transitions and to come up with future tensions and challenges.

The workshop is organised as a part of the UERA Conference and General Assembly.

The event is organised by: Urban Europe Research Alliance (UERA)Karlsruhe Transformation Centre for Sustainability and Cultural Change/KIT-ITAS (KAT), Karlsruhe Real World Lab for Sustainable Climate Protection (KARLA) and in cooperation with JPI Urban Europe.
